Blast from the Past

I guess we all had phases while growing up. I can't believe Scott's hair is almost as long as Mikaila's was in this photo. He's still cute, though... in a girly, curly bang sort-of-way!

Bouncing Baby Boy!

The Hoerner family welcomed a new bouncing baby boy this morning - Alex Joseph Hoerner. He was 8.13lbs and 20 3/4in. Definitely another handsome Hoerner boy. Congrats to Kelcy, Tony and Kyle! We can't wait to meet him!

Here's big brother Kyle and his new sibling Alex!

More Hawaii Pics

The Pearl Harbor Memorial sits above the sunken USS Arizona - the tomb for 1,777 men.
Parts of the sunken ship are easily seen above the water.

View from the USS Arizona Memorial.

It's so incredible to see parts of the ship underneath the memorial. You can see the hull, the stern and basically the whole top deck of the ship sitting about six feet under water. Oil still spills out of the ship causing a pollution issue. They don't know how to address the oil spills without harming the memorial and the graves of so many men.

The famous Banzai Pipeline...home of 50 foot waves. We were there in the off-season. They were only about 10 feet.

The first blue STOP sign either of us have ever seen, and we saw them all over the island! Apparently, if the government won't issue a STOP sign, you have to get your own and it can't be red. We don't know if you can get a ticket for not stopping at a blue STOP sign.

Malekelakelaka is the place to be

Hawaii was wonderful (of course). We surfed Waikiki Beach, toured Oahu, hiked Diamond Head crater, nearly blew off Pali Lookout, checked out Pipeline on North Shore, stopped by Turtle Bay, snorkeled, ate the famous Shave Ice, toured Pearl Harbor, swam, lounged in the sun and relaxed. We enjoyed the beautiful weather, the brilliant people and the incredible ocean. Our 2nd cousins Gail & Gary Kishida totally spoiled us making the trip extra special. We plan to return again, and again, and again.... we even joked (???) about moving there for a year or so. :) Oahu is not very big, but when you stop to see all the sights, it can turn into an 8-hour drive around the island! It was great!
I could be wrong, but I believe this is called Hauula Beach somewhere near Laie. It's more of a fisherman's place, but worth a stop for a photo.

Here we are at the Byodo-in Temple. Inside is an 18 foot Buddha shrine. It was very cool and so beautiful. Scott and I took turns ringing the bell gong for luck.
We also fed the birds....for good luck. :)
One more shot at the temple with Gary Kishida.

Here we are at Pali Lookout with cousin Gail. This is the spot where the Hawaiin King ran opposing forces off the cliff so he could take over all the Hawaiin islands under one man's rule. It's very high up, and SUPER WINDY!

I can't explain how windy it is at Pali Lookout. Scott and I were both stopped in our tracks from the strength of the wind!
That's Chinaman's Hut in the background (somewhere near Kahaluu). By the way, Scott's name is Kola in Hawaii, and mine is Kauna.
